Bill Aitken does it again !

Bill wins at Royal Musselburgh

Another great day for Ghyll member Bill Aitken.

He won the over 69 age category at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club with a gross of 72 and a net of 66.

Bill was only 2 shots away from the overall winner and with 150 golfers taking part, a great achievement.

Lady Captain's Day 2026

Lady Captain's Day 2026
Well the rain finally stopped for Sue Hirons' Lady Captain's Day on Saturday 😊. The winner was Lesley Honeyman with 39 points, followed by Debbie Richardson on 36 points and Greta Henderson in 3rd place with 33 points. Front 9 prize was won by Lisa Jones, Back 9 by Susan Holdsworth with Pat Parrington winning Nearest the Pin and Susan Tattersall Straightest Drive. Janet Whipp was the 9 hole competition winner. A superb dinner provided by The Ravine At Ghyll and presentation evening followed attended by 26 ladies.
Thanks to everyone who helped on the day and special thank you to David Pinder and the Greens staff who somehow worked their magic to get the course looking brilliant after a horrendous week of weather.

Ghyll Ladies win Shipley Open

Four of Ghyll ladies won the Shipley Open with 74 points, in difficult weather conditions.
Well Done to Steph Robinson, Pat Parrington, Ruth Joyce & Anne Preston.

Ghyll Scratch Team v Keighley

The Scratch Team played away at Keighley.
Ghyll lost 4-2 tonight but all games went down the last hole so could of gone either way.
Another great effort by the boys.

Scratch Team v Bracken Ghyll

What a great weekend at Ghyll Golf Club
The scratch team played Bracken Ghyll on Friday and had a brilliant 6-0 win. This leaves them currently in the middle of the table.
Brandon Cocker won 6&5
Shaun Hills won 6&5
Steve Greenwood won 5&3
What a great team effort., with some interesting outfits.
To follow on from this, Brandon Cocker set a new course record on Sunday with a Gross 65 - Unbelievable - Well Done, what a fantastic score

Prostrate Cancer Charity

2025 Mr Captain [Bill Aitken] received a fabulous letter from the Prostrate Cancer Charity after his brilliant efforts last year, for raising £3350 for them.

Ghyll seniors in there new colours away at Bracken Ghyll horrible weather lost 3 1/2 to 2 1/2.

Scratch Team Match

The scratch team played away at Northcliffe and lost 4-2
Their next match is at home, 5th June against Bracken Ghyll - come and support - tee off pm

Ladies White Rose Match

Ghyll Ladies v West Bradford

Well that's a wrap....all White Rose matches played. Shame we couldn't end our campaign with a win but we enjoyed our visit to West Bradford yesterday all the same. Huge thanks to all ladies who played in the matches, all the support and well wishes and special thanks to Ruth Joyce for organising the fixtures, selecting the teams, liaising with our opponents, ordering our bacon butties and refreshments and sorting our lovely Ghyll tops. Bring on next year!

Mr President (2025) Day

Mr President's Day (from 2025)
Mr President (Ken Inman) finally had his President's day after illness last year prevented the event taking place.
What a fantastic day. The event was supported by many of the members.
The overall winner was Danny Blackmore who after being a member for 37 years finally added his name to the Honours Board.
Second place went to J.W.Riley, Third to D Inman, Fourth M Brown
Over 60's prize was Adrian Jackson.

Ghyll Ladies Match

Ghyll v Carus Green

Yesterday Ghyll Ladies hosted Carus Green for the return match in the 3 Counties League and got a very creditable draw against a strong team. A superb result in very warm conditions. The Carus Green ladies loved the course and the warm welcome and hospitality. Well done ladies!

The Seniors played their latest match away at Rossendale and lost 7-1

Scratch Team v The Mnaor

The Scratch Team played the Manor in their first home game of the season
They were unlucky and lost 4 - 2.
Onwards & upwards to their next Match. is 29th May away at Norhcliffe.

The fab four! Another win for Ghyll Ladies in their penultimate White Rose fixture yesterday versus a very strong, experienced team from The Manor GC. Well done ladies!

Charity Day at Meltham Golf Club

A team from Ghyll took part in a charity golf event at Meltham GC, Huddersfield for the Fresh futures charity,

Fresh Futures:

• Improve children and young people lives by providing opportunities to enable them to achieve a positive destination that is right for them
• Empower families and significant adults to make positive choices so children and young people live healthy and happy lives
• Work within their communities to support children, young people and their families and advocate for them

The Ghyll team won the overall event (with 96 points, Stableforth scoring 2 to count on 17 holes and all to count on the SI 1 par hole) and Craig Lister also won the nearest the pin prize for the day.

The Scratch Team

The Scratch Team played there first match away at Woodhall Hills and lost 4-2
Their next match is Friday 22nd May at home against The Manor.

Another great win for Ghyll Ladies yesterday in their White Rose match at home v Baildon. Well done to all those who represented our wonderful club.

Ghyll Ladies v The Manor Away

Well done to these lovely ladies who battled hard at The Manor Golf Club in Sunday’s White Rose fixture. It‘s a long course and they fielded a very strong team, and The Manor ladies came out winners. Onward to our next fixture at home this Wednesday v Baildon, good luck to those representing Ghyll.

The seniors had a great trip to play 3 golf courses, Powfoot, Lochmaben, Dumfries & Galloway

Seniors Match

The Seniors played a home match aganist Colne Golf Club. They came a way with a win of 4 1/2 to 1 1/2.A great result.

Windermere's Senior Spring Open

Windermere's Spring Open took place on the 16th April and Ghyll Golf was represented with a few teams.
The Winning Score, along with the 2nd, 3rd and fourth places was 43 points.
Congratulations to Seahen Grace & John Blackmore from Ghyll who came in 4th on a countback. The scenery was stunning!

Ladies First 3 Counties Match

A Great Result

Our very first ladies match in the Three Counties Handicap Shield was played at Carus Green Golf Club on Saturday 11 April, against a very strong, experienced team in challenging weather.

Our Ghyll ladies came away with a very respectable 2- 2 draw! A great day was had by all and we look forward to hosting Carus Green ladies at Ghyll on 24 May for the return match.

Ladies First Match of the Season

On Thursday Ghyll Ladies played our first White Rose match of the season against West Bradford and secured a comfortable win (4-1). The West Bradford Ladies loved their visit and were very complimentary about the welcome and the refreshments. Thank you and well done to all who played.

Ghyll Juniors

Ghyll Golf Club have a thriving junior section which welcomes children 6-18 years old. All juniors are encouraged to attend the 10 coaching sessions run by our professional coach, Ben Mallinson, on Thursday evenings 6-7.30pm. The first session of this season starts on 30 April.
Our membership fee covers the 10 coaching sessions and membership for the year. We have lots of fun events for our juniors and their families to join in with.
New members will be very welcome, just come along to the first session and join in the fun. No previous experience of golf is needed. A great victory of 7-1 for the first match of the season for the Seniors. The weather shone brightly and the course was in fantastic condition for the first game of 2026

The Mixed Winter League was wrapped up on Saturday afternoon in amazing weather! The winners were Andy and Shirley Smith, followed closely by Ian Robinson and Lesley Honeyman, with Lorraine Whipp and Graham Whipp in 3rd place.
